Welcome Dr. Bray!

Dr. Maria Bray joined Infinity Eyecare of Denver in July 2025 and we are thrilled to have her join our team! Dr. Bray grew up in a small town in southeast Missouri. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she graduated with a BS in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She then completed her optometric education at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where she was awarded a scholarship for community service. During her rotations, Maria saw patients for primary care exams, performed vision therapy as well as evaluations on patients with binocular vision disorders and traumatic brain injuries, but also saw many patients for post-op care after cataract and refractive surgeries. As a provider, Maria's main goal is to make patients feel cared for and educated, and will take the time needed during the exam to accomplish this goal. She values the doctor-patient relationship and hopes to foster that with each patient she sees.

Maria and her husband Jacob (who is also an optometrist) were married in June of 2023 after they graduated from optometry school. They love exploring the mountains and moved to Colorado to be closer to them. Maria is currently learning how to snowboard and enjoys a nice run on a green with an IPA afterwards. Sports are a big part of her life and she likes cheering on her Missouri Tigers (M-I-Z!) and the Kansas City Chiefs. She also likes going to concerts, specifically Indie rock and EDM shows, and has recently picked up leisure reading again (book recommendations are welcome)! Maria is a dog person and has two rescue dogs, Saint and Faye, that she will gladly show you pictures of during your exam.

Maria is so excited to meet the patients of Infinity Eye and provide exceptional care to them.
Understanding Retinal Detachments: Signs and What You Need to Do

Understanding Retinal Detachment: Signs and What You Need to Do

Retinal detachment is a serious eye condition that requires immediate attention. It occurs when the retina, the light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye, separates from its underlying supportive tissue. Without prompt treatment, it can lead to permanent vision loss. Recognizing the early signs of retinal detachment and knowing what actions to take can be crucial for preserving your vision.

Signs of Retinal Detachment

 Sudden Appearance of Floaters: Floaters are tiny specks or cobweb-like images that drift through your field of vision. While they are common and often harmless, a sudden increase in floaters, especially if they appear in clusters or are accompanied by flashes of light, may be a sign of retinal detachment.
 Flashes of Light: You might see flashes or sparks of light, particularly in your peripheral vision. These flashes occur when the retina is being pulled or stretched. The presence of these flashes, especially if they are new or have changed in nature, warrants immediate medical attention.
 Blurred or Distorted Vision: If you experience sudden blurring or distortion in your vision, it can be a warning sign. This might manifest as a gray or shadowy curtain appearing in your peripheral vision or central vision.
	Loss of Peripheral Vision or curtain like sensation: A loss of side vision or the sensation of a dark curtain or shadow falling over part of your vision could indicate retinal detachment. This loss can progress rapidly, making it crucial to seek help right away.
	Reduced Visual Acuity: If you notice a sudden decline in your ability to see clearly, particularly in one eye, this could be related to a detachment. Any abrupt change in visual acuity should be evaluated by a professional.

What to Do If You Suspect Retinal Detachment

	Seek Immediate Medical Attention: Retinal detachment is a medical emergency. Contact an eye care specialist or visit an emergency room as soon as you notice any of the above symptoms. The sooner the retina is reattached, the better the chances of preserving vision.
	Avoid Rubbing or Pressing on Your Eye: If you suspect a retinal detachment, avoid rubbing or putting pressure on your eye. This can worsen the condition or lead to additional damage.
	Keep Your Head in a Stable Position: Try to keep your head still and avoid sudden movements. This can help prevent further damage or exacerbation of the condition while you arrange for medical care.

Prevention and Risk Factors

While not all cases of retinal detachment can be prevented, being aware of the risk factors can be beneficial. These include:

	Age: The risk increases with age, particularly after 40.
	Eye Injury: Trauma or injury to the eye can increase the risk. If you have an eye injury, its always best to seek medical attention to make sure there is not damage to the eye.
	Previous Eye Surgery: Surgery such as cataract removal may increase susceptibility.
	High Myopia: Severe nearsightedness can stretch and weaken the retina, making patients more susceptible to retinal detachments
	Family History: A family history of retinal detachment can also increase risk.

Regular eye exams are essential, especially if you have any of these risk factors. Early detection of issues like retinal tears can sometimes prevent detachment.

Retinal detachment is a critical eye condition that demands immediate attention. By recognizing the signs early and seeking prompt medical care, you can significantly increase your chances of preserving your vision. Remember, if you experience sudden changes in your vision, don't wait—contact a healthcare professional immediately. Protecting your eye health is crucial for maintaining your overall quality of life and visual clarity.

Eye Health Check: Dilation vs Photos

The terms "dilation" and "fundus photos" refer to different procedures used for examining the interior of the eye, particularly the retina and other structures. Typically, at Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we suggest doing one or the other every year. Many patients think that their eye exam is just to receive a prescription for glasses or contacts, but the comprehensive exam is so much more than just the Rx, a large part of the exam is to check the eye health. This is just one part of the exam to make sure the insides of your eyes are healthy. The purpose of both is to get a better view of the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels in the back of the eye. These are important to monitor because changes or symptoms in the eyes can help diagnose conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and glaucoma. Other things may be going on inside the eye that could also indicate other problems going on in the body that have secondary impacts to the eyes such as brain tumors, aneurysm, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer etc. Here's a detailed comparison of the two:

Dilation
Dilation involves using special eye drops to widen (dilate) the pupils. This allows a more comprehensive examination of the interior structures of the eye.
Procedure:

	Eye drops are administered to the patient to dilate the pupils.
	It takes about 20-30 minutes for the pupils to fully dilate.
	Once dilated, the eye doctor uses a slit lamp with a special lens, to examine the retina, optic nerve, and other parts of the inner eye.

Pros:

	Provides a wide field of view of the retina and other internal structures.
	Essential for a thorough examination and diagnosis of many eye conditions.
	Is no additional charge to your copays or exam fees.

Cons:

	Causes temporary blurred vision and light sensitivity. We typically tell patients that the drops can last 5-8 hours but varies patient to patient.
	The light sensitivity can cause some uncomfortableness and burliness, making it difficult to drive, read or look at a computer screen. Particularly those with lighter color eyes tend to have more sensitivity.
	Adds time to your exam, since the drops take time to activate and widen your pupils, it typically can add 20-30 minutes to your exam.

Fundus Photos
Fundus photography involves taking detailed photographs of the retina, the optic disc, the macula, and the posterior pole (the back part of the eye). At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we had a machine that takes pictures of the eyes and in most cases can replaces dilation!
Procedure:

A special camera, called a fundus camera, is used to take high-resolution images of the interior surface of the eye. The doctor takes 3 photos on each eye. The process is very easy for patients to do (even kids!). The doctor or technician instructs you to follow a green light and will count down when the photo will be taken. The machine then merges the photos together for each eye to have a full emcompasing, HD photo of the inside of the eye.
Pros:

	Usually takes around 5 minutes so it speeds up the exam quicker than dilation
	Provides permanent, high-resolution images that can be reviewed later and compared to over time. As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words"!
	Less invasive than direct examination and can be done quickly.
	Useful for patient education and for tracking disease progression over time. Dr. B can easily show the patient in the photos what he is looking at, what needs to be monitored or if there are any concerns that need to be addressed.
	Photos can be superimposed on to each other for a quick comparison of any changes year over year!
	Easy transferable to other doctors that may need your photos such as an Ophthalmologist, Specialist or primary care doctor.
	It is really cool to see the inside of your eye!

Cons:

	Quality of images can be affected by small pupils, often common in older adults, or other obstructions.
	Photos are not recommended for those who suffer from photophobia or epilepsy. The doctor will discuss other options with you.
	This is typically an additional fee to your other copays if you have insurance or are paying out of pocket.

Come get an eye exam at Infinity Eyecare of Denver to discuss more! Take care of your eye health today and call us at 303-777-1400 to book an appointment!

Seeing the Future Clearly: CooperVision's MiSight for Myopia Management in Children

Seeing the Future Clearly: CooperVision's MiSight for Myopia Management

Introduction:
In today's digital age, children are spending more time indoors and engaging in activities that can strain their eyes, leading to a concerning rise in myopia, or nearsightedness, among young people. As parents, educators, and eye care professionals, it's crucial to address this issue proactively to safeguard our children's vision for the future. Enter CooperVision's MiSight, a groundbreaking solution designed to manage myopia progression in children and adolescents. In this blog post, we'll explore the importance of myopia management and how MiSight is revolutionizing the way we approach this common eye condition.

Understanding Myopia:
Myopia is a refractive error that causes distant objects to appear blurry while close objects remain clear. It typically develops during childhood and tends to worsen as a child grows, potentially leading to more severe vision problems later in life. Factors such as genetics, environmental influences, and lifestyle habits contribute to the development and progression of myopia. Left unmanaged, high myopia can increase the risk of serious eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal detachment.
Given the significant impact of myopia on visual health and quality of life, proactive management is essential, particularly in children. Traditional methods such as glasses and contact lenses correct myopia but do not address its underlying progression. This has led to the development of innovative approaches aimed at slowing down or even halting the progression of myopia, ultimately reducing the risk of future complications.

Introducing MiSight:
CooperVision's MiSight is the first and only FDA-approved soft contact lens designed specifically for myopia management in children aged 8-12 years old at the initiation of treatment. Launching in the US in 2020, MiSight helps to reduce the stimulus for axial elongation, the primary cause of myopia progression. MiSight offers numerous advantages for both children and their parents. Its comfortable and convenient daily disposable design eliminates the need for cleaning and maintenance, promoting compliance and reducing the risk of eye infections. Additionally, studies have shown that MiSight can significantly slow down myopia progression, allowing children to enjoy clearer vision and lower their risk of developing high myopia and associated complications both in childhood and later in life.

As advocates for children's eye health, parents and eye care professionals play a crucial role in promoting myopia management with MiSight. By partnering with knowledgeable optometrists and opticians, parents can make informed decisions about their child's eye care and ensure that they receive the most effective treatment for their needs. With MiSight, parents can take proactive steps to protect their children's vision and set them on a path towards lifelong ocular health. Comparative to orthodontics with children's teeth, Misight is an effective way to treat myopia in young children to set them up for better ocular health as adults. At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we prescribe Misight and are there every step of the way with you and your child throughout the process.

Conclusion:
In the battle against myopia, CooperVision's MiSight stands as a beacon of hope, offering a safe, effective, and convenient solution for managing myopia progression in children. By addressing the root cause of myopia and slowing down its progression, MiSight empowers children to see the world more clearly and reduces their risk of future vision problems. As advocates for children's eye health, let's embrace the transformative potential of MiSight and work together to create a brighter future for the next generation. You can learn more about Misight at CooperVision's website.

2024 Solar Eclipse in the US and Denver

You have probably been hearing a lot on the news about the 2024 Solar Eclipse happening on April 8th, 2024! At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we are just as excited as everyone else and want to provide some interesting facts about the eclipse both in Denver and in the path of totality. Although Denver won't be in the path of totality, it will still be very cool to see! We also want to talk about the importance of wearing proper eyewear to view the partial or total eclipse safely!

Solar Eclipse Fun Facts

	The solar eclipse will happen on April 8, 2024. It is different than the 2017 total eclipse because there are much more people who will be in the path of totality and this eclipse will last much longer!
	An estimated 31.6 million people are in the path of totality. In 2017, it was estimated there were 12 million people.
	Major Cities in the path of totality include Austin, TX, Buffalo, NY, Little Rock, Arm, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX and Fort Worth, TX.
	The next total eclipse in the US will not occur until 2044!
	Denver is not in the path of totality but will have 65.3% coverage.
	To view the eclipse safely, whether you are in the path of totality or in partial, you should always wear ISO 12312-2 Standard eclipse glasses when looking directly at the sun. They block 99.9% of the sun's rays. This is especially important in Denver having partial coverage! And no, sunglasses are definitely not enough protection.

Even though we don't have a total eclipse in Denver, it will still be an awesome event in Denver. When to Watch in Denver:
Begins: 11:28 am
Max Coverage: 12:40 pm
Ends: 1:54 PM

We cannot stress this enough as an Optometry practice, please wear the proper glasses to protect your eyes. No wearing proper ISO 12312-2 standard eclipse glasses. You can risk burning your retina and cause you to lose vision or go blind. Right now at Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we are offering a free pair of glasses for each of our patients. We have additional pairs available for purchase for $5. If you are not a patient yet and want your free pair of glasses, book at appointment with us! We would love to see you!!

Infinity Eyecare of Denver’s Recycling and Other Environmental Programs

In an era where environmental consciousness has become increasingly imperative, the implementation of effective recycling programs stands as a beacon of hope for a sustainable future. Recognizing our part as healthcare provider has been something Infinity Eyecare of Denver takes seriously. While we are just a small part of the bigger picture, we have implemented several things in our practice to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We invite our patients to participate in many of these programs and indicate below how you can help.

Paperless Intake and Consent Forms
Infinity Eyecare of Denver offers intake forms to be filled out online. Not only is this way easier and quicker for the patient and the practice but it saves over 10 pages of paper PER patient. Over a year, we estimate that we save over 21,000 pieces of paper – that's 210 pounds!

For forms we cannot do online, Infinity Eyecare of Denver has a system to help reduce paper! Each patient may have two more consent forms that need to be filled out in person- both of which are signed on laminated paper. We scan in the forms, erase the marker and reuse the laminated paper over and over again. This saves us an estimated 15+ pages per day! We have received awesome feedback from our patients that they also love this system!

Patients can donate used glasses
This is for a great cause! We work with the Lion's Club and accept donated glasses from patients and others in the community. They are taken to facilities where they are cleaned and the prescriptions are read. They then go on to other countries where eyesight care is lacking. We love that not only are we helping those in need but reusing and reducing waste! If you are wanting to donate glasses, please bring them to our office without cases and we will show you our Lion's Club donation box! You can read about their great cause at their website: Denver Lion's Club Website

We are part of a contact lens materials recycling program!
We are proud to be part of the One-by-One Bausch & Lomb recycling program for contact lens blister packets. Contact lens, especially daily lenses, have a lot of materials that are thrown away. Instead of throwing them in your trash, we encourage you to put the packets/foil into a box or bag and bring them into our office once full to recycle! Please don't bring in the actual lenses, those need to be thrown away :) You can read about the program here: One-by-One Bausch & Lomb Recycling Program

We offer Paperless Receipts and Prescriptions!
We always ask if you would like your receipt emailed or printed but 90% of the time patients want those emailed! We love them for it- this saves a ton of paper and is an easy way for patients to have the receipts easily accessible (especially to turn into Insurance or HSA!). We also send your prescriptions via email if you choose, which is a win-win! Saves even more paper and is easy for the patient to access!

As we embark on this journey towards a greener and more sustainable future, our programs stand as a testament to the power of community-driven environmental action. While we have much work to do, Infinity Eyecare of Denver is proud of the steps we have taken so far to do our part for a better world and future. We will continue to find ways to reduce, reuse and recycle and we are thrilled that our patients help do their part!

As always, we would love to see you at our office for an eye exam.
Pros and Cons of Monthly, Bi-weekly and Daily Contact Lenses

.blog, .blog-roll-listing{
background-color:black!important;
}

At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we often get asked what the differences are between monthly, bi-weekly and daily disposable contacts. Below we explore the differences between each and the pros and cons.

Monthly Contact Lenses:

Monthly lenses are designed to be worn for one month before being replaced. They are typically worn during the day and removed at night. Monthly contacts require proper cleaning and storage.

Pros:

	Cost-Effective: Monthly lenses may be more cost-effective compared to bi-weekly and daily lenses.
	Less Packaging Waste: Using fewer lenses reduces packaging waste compared to daily disposables.

Cons:

	Maintenance: Requires regular cleaning and proper storage.
	Risk of Deposits: Longer usage time increases the risk of protein and lipid deposits on the lenses. These can lead to blurry vision and infections.
	Potential for Irritation: Extended wear may lead to discomfort or irritation over time. Especially in Colorado with the dry air, many patients experience more dryness and irritation than bi-weekly and daily lenses.

Bi-weekly Contact Lenses:

Bi-weekly lenses are replaced every two weeks. Similar to monthly lenses, they are worn during the day and removed at night. Regular cleaning and storage are necessary.

Pros:

	More Convenient than Monthly: The shorter replacement schedule may be more convenient for some users.
	Less risk for irritation and deposits compared to monthly lenses since they are replaced more frequently.
	More cost-effective than daily lenses

Cons:

	Still Requires Maintenance: While not as frequent as monthly lenses, they still require regular cleaning and storage.
	Risk of Deposits: Similar to monthly lenses, there is a risk of deposits on the lenses, even though the bi-weekly frequency is usually better (with proper hygiene and correct usage) than monthlies, it can still develop.
	They usually are more expensive than monthly lenses.

Daily Contact Lenses:

Pros:

	Convenience: No need for cleaning or storage; simply discard after use.
	Reduced Allergy Risk: Lower risk of allergies or irritations since the lenses are fresh each day.
	The most hygienic: Because you dispose of lenses each day, they are much better for your eyes than monthly or bi-weekly and significantly reduce the chances of eye infections and risk of protein and lipid deposits.
	Less Dry and more comfortable: Many patients find that daily lenses tend to be more moist than monthly and bi-weekly lenses. This is in part to being disposed of every day and a fresh new pair each time, but also, they tend to be thinner than monthly and bi-weekly which tends to be more comfortable.
	Great for Occasional Use: Ideal for occasional wearers or special occasions such as weddings or for certain hobbies like skiing, hiking, swimming, and sports.
	No solutions or contact lenses cases are necessary!

Cons:

	Cost: Daily disposables can be more expensive than monthly or bi-weekly lenses.
	More waste: Each lens is individually packaged and so there is more waste and materials than monthly or bi-weekly.*

Ultimately, the choice between monthly, bi-weekly, and daily contact lenses depends on individual preferences, lifestyle, and the advice of an eye care professional. All types can be healthy if used correctly, but improper care can lead to eye issues. In addition, comfort varies from person to person, and it's essential to find what works best for you. Regular eye check-ups and following the recommended replacement schedule are crucial for maintaining good eye health. Dr. Bistodeau loves fitting patients with the best contact lenses for their lifestyles, preferences and prescription! Come see us at Infinity Eyecare of Denver for a contact lens exam!

* At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we have a free recycling program to help with the waste of daily lenses (as well as Monthly and Bi-weekly)! Ask us about it next time you are in the office!

Contacts Versus Glasses: The Clear Vision Showdown

.blog, .blog-roll-listing{
background-color:black!important;
}

We get asked this often, which is better: glasses or contact lenses. Each has its own set of advantages and drawbacks, appealing to different preferences and lifestyles. In this blog, we'll explore the ongoing debate between glasses and contacts, comparing their pros and cons to help you make an informed decision about which option is right for you. Remember too, we know plenty of people who wear glasses and contacts at different times, for different activities or for different looks!

Comfort and Convenience:
One of the most significant factors influencing the choice between glasses and contacts is comfort. Glasses are generally considered hassle-free – just slip them on, and you're good to go. They don't require touching your eyes, making them an attractive option for those who may be squeamish about doing so.

On the other hand, contact lenses provide wearers with a sense of freedom and flexibility. They don't obstruct your peripheral vision, and there's no concern about glasses slipping down your nose during physical activities. However, some people find inserting and removing contacts a bit challenging, and the maintenance routine can be more than glasses. Contacts have different options that require difference maintenance and management!

Style and Aesthetics:
Glasses not only serve a medical purpose but are also fashionable accessories. With countless frame styles and colors available, glasses wearers can effortlessly express their personality and enhance their overall look. At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we have the latest frames, brands and looks to add to your fashion sense!

Contacts, being discreet and virtually invisible, offer a more natural look. They don't interfere with facial features or obscure your eyes, allowing for a more genuine representation of your appearance. Some individuals appreciate the ability to change their eye color with colored contact lenses, adding an extra layer of versatility.

Eye Health Considerations:
Both glasses and contacts have their own implications for eye health. Glasses provide a barrier between your eyes and the external environment, offering some protection against dust, wind, and harmful UV rays. They are also less likely to cause eye infections since they don't come into direct contact with the eye's surface.

On the other hand, contact lenses require careful hygiene practices to avoid infection and irritation. Users must follow strict guidelines for cleaning, storing, and replacing their lenses to minimize the risk of complications. Prolonged contact lens wear can sometimes lead to dry eyes, and users need to be diligent about taking breaks to let their eyes breathe.

Cost and Maintenance:
The cost factor plays a crucial role in the decision-making process. While glasses may seem like a one-time investment, they can be expensive if you opt for high-quality frames and lenses, sometimes you may need multiple pairs depending on your needs and wants out of your glasses (reading, sunglasses, full time wear, specific sports, etc).

Contacts can be less expensive than glasses or more expensive depending on the type, disposal frequency (contacts you change monthly are less expensive than contacts you dispose of daily). Additionally, in the state of Colorado, your contact lens prescription expires after one year. Therefore, your contact lens exam and evaluation needs to be done yearly which requires additional copays to your yearly exam.

Ultimately, the choice between glasses and contacts is a personal one, influenced by lifestyle, comfort preferences, and aesthetic considerations. Some people prefer the classic elegance of glasses, while others enjoy the freedom and subtlety that contact lenses provide. Others like the option of wearing glasses some days and contacts on others which is always a great option. Regardless of your choice, the key is to prioritize eye health by adhering to proper care practices and scheduling regular eye exams. So, whether you're team glasses, team contacts or team both, remember that clear vision is the ultimate goal, and the choice is yours to make! At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we can help you determine the best options for you and find you the perfect pair of glasses, the right contacts or both!

Difference Between Vision and Medical Insurance

.blog, .blog-roll-listing{
background-color:black!important;
}

At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we get many questions on the difference between vision and medical insurance. We get it- insurance can be hard to understand! Below we break down the differences and what one you would use if coming to Infinity Eyecare of Denver.

Vision Insurance:
Vision insurance and medical insurance serve distinct purposes in covering different aspects of eye care. Vision insurance specifically is designed to address preventive and corrective measures to maintain optimal vision health. Vision Insurance typically helps with costs for routine eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and sometimes corrective surgeries. It depends on your specific insurance and your specific plan, but typically there is co-pay for the routine exam and then an additional one if you wear contact lenses for the fitting and contact lens exam. Your insurance then typically has benefits related to frames, lenses and contact lenses.

Medical Insurance:
On the other hand, medical insurance in relation to eye care usually is related to eye emergencies or injuries such as corneal abrasions, retinal detachments or foreign object removal. Medical insurances may cover some comprehensive exams for qualifying diagnosis such as cataracts, glaucoma or diabetes but rarely cover materials such as glasses or contact lenses.

The vision insurances we take are VSP and Spectera. The medical insurances we take are Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. We also welcome self-pay patients who do not have insurance!

At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we are here to help answer any Insurance questions you have. Our billing specialist, front desk and Optical Manager are all resources to help you better understand how to maximize your benefits, what insurance to use and understanding charges and copays.

Give us a call at 303-777-1400! We would love to help!

Importance of Getting a Comprehensive Exam

.blog, .blog-roll-listing{
background-color:black!important;
}

Our eyes are windows to the world, allowing us to experience life's beauty and navigate its challenges. Yet, many of us take our vision for granted, neglecting the crucial aspect of regular eye exams. The importance of these examinations extends beyond simply checking for glasses or contact lens prescriptions; they play a vital role in maintaining overall eye health and detecting potential issues before they escalate. We hear it all the time, "I have great vision! I don't need an eye exam." Below are reasons you should incorporate eye exams into your routine health check-ups and screenings:

Early Detection of Eye Diseases:
One of the primary reasons for regular eye exams is the early detection of eye diseases. Conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy often develop without noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Comprehensive eye exams can identify these issues before they cause irreversible damage, enabling timely intervention and management to preserve vision. At Infinity Eyecare of Denver, we have technology that can help detect many of these diseases!

Prevention and Management of Chronic Diseases:
The eyes can provide valuable insights into a person's overall health. Conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol can manifest in the eyes. During an eye exam, an optometrist or ophthalmologist may detect signs of these systemic conditions, prompting early intervention and preventing complications that could affect not only vision but also overall well-being.

Update Prescription for Clearer Vision:
Many people associate eye exams solely with getting a new prescription for glasses or contact lenses. While this is an essential aspect, it is just one part of the comprehensive eye exam. Regular assessments ensure that your prescription is up to date, helping you maintain optimal visual acuity and reducing eye strain.

Prevention of Digital Eye Strain and Future Eye Problems:
In our modern, digital age, we spend a significant amount of time staring at screens. This prolonged screen time can lead to digital eye strain, characterized by symptoms like dry eyes, headaches, and blurred vision. Regular eye exams allow eye care professionals to address these issues and provide recommendations for reducing digital eye strain, such as proper screen ergonomics and the use of blue light filtering lenses. In addition, we live in the wonderful state of Colorado but it's one of the worst places for eyes. Dry air and plenty of sunshine both are rough on the eyes. Even if you have perfect vision now, Dr. Bistodeau can recommend lenses that can help filter blue light and protect your eyes from the sun so we can keep your vision great for many years to come!

Vision for a Lifetime:
Taking care of your eyes through regular exams is an investment in your long-term vision. By identifying and addressing issues early, you contribute to maintaining clear vision throughout your life. This is particularly crucial as our eyes undergo natural changes with age, and proactive eye care can slow down the progression of age-related conditions.

Conclusion:
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook the importance of regular eye exams. However, these examinations are not just about seeing clearly; they are about preserving the health of your eyes and safeguarding your overall well-being. By prioritizing regular eye check-ups, you take a proactive step towards a future filled with clear vision and a healthier, more vibrant life. Don't wait until you notice a problem—schedule your next eye exam today with us and embark on a journey towards a lifetime of optimal eye health.
